SUZANNE OTTERSON – NISA Level 3 Performance Coach and former Olympian
Suzanne is a National Ice Skating Association Level 3 Performance Coach achieved through having proved over many years of coaching to have achieved a high level of coaching and results. Suzanne took up coaching approximately nineteen years ago after having achieved NISA Gold Medal standard as a skater. Suzanne is a former British Primary Champion, a British Junior and Scottish Junior Champion and a Bronze medallist in the British Senior Championships. Suzanne represented GB on eight occasions including the World Junior Championships in Colorado Springs and Skate America in New York. Suzanne over her skating career has trained with Robin Cousins, John Curry and Frank Carroll in California. Suzanne represented Great Britain in the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville, France. Due to her many achievements and her representation of GB in the 1992 Olympics Suzanne was selected as one of the Olympic torchbearers for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games held in London.
Suzanne, along with her sister Gillian, is the driving force behind the “Gain the Edge” elite skating classes, of which they are both very proud. These elite skating classes ensure that skaters have the expert assistance required to achieve their specific goals.
Suzanne currently has three skaters who are part of the British squad who have, during the last year, represented Great Britain in international competitions throughout Europe. Suzanne is very proud of the fact that these skaters all started at grass roots level with her and have continued to their present standards.
Suzanne has a wealth of knowledge and experience in ice figure skating and an in-depth knowledge of the new IJS judging system, a knowledge she hopes she can pass on to her skaters.
